Measuring just 7.62cm tall and jointed at the neck and shoulders, both of these charming mouse characters are made entirely of fine mohair plush with realistic shading, resin hands and feet, glass pupil eyes, inset whiskers, and leather tails.
Ida is the first russet-coloured mouse from R. John Wright. She is based on a whimsical watercolour illustration by famed animal artist, Racey Helps. Ida is costumed in a simple summer frock made of fine cotton batiste and she comes seated in her wooden swing which hangs from the stem of a beautiful Shasta daisy! This delightful tableau setting includes additional daisies mixed with bright yellow buttercup flowers and leaves all handmade of felt - artistically shaded and mounted on a felt-covered wooden base. The entire piece measures 22.86cm tall X 22.86cm wide.
Ida's summertime pal, Tom, is a dark brown mouse wearing a jacket made of green checkered cotton fabric with a muslin collar and a silk bow. Over one ear, Tom wears a moulded felt "button beanie" decorated with tiny multi-coloured buttons. These caps became popular in the 30's and 40's when kids would re-purpose their Dads' old fedoras by flipping them inside out, turning up the brim, and trimming the excess into pointy scallops. The beanies were then decorated with colourful bottle caps, trinkets, or buttons. Tom comes ready for summertime play with his own custom-made all-wood hoop and stick game! A built-in metal stand provides easy display of this delightful mouse character.
Ida was produced in an edition of 250 pieces worldwide. Tom was limited to only 150 pieces.
