Steiff Designers' Choice Frida Teddybear

Steiff Frida Designer's Choice is a wonderful, colourful Steiff Teddy Bear brought alive from the painter Frida Kahlo who was born in Mexico in 1907.

The bear is made from high quality printed Jacquard material in a mixture of black and dark grey and is fully jointed (means you can move her arms, legs and head).
She is decorated on her body and head with a wreath of embroidered and handmade painted felt flowers and leaves in yellow, red and green. To finish off she has been given a special face with large black eyes and amazing bright nose and mouth embroidered with matching yellow thread.

Frida Kahlo was the artist who inspired this amazing bear.
She was a Mexican painter who frequently wore traditional costume, hairstyles and matching jewellery. People were captivated by her vibrant personality, which was influenced significantly by a serious traffic accident in her early life. Frida's whole being - how, in spite of severe pain, she was still able to work and bring what was inside her - something extremely impressive.

The embroidered borders of this bears clothing were inspired by the traditional Tehuana costumes that Frida Kahlo used to wear and her work used in her piece called 'Flower Basket' helped Steiff make this supreme Teddy Bear.
